WEATHER CONDITIONS

Season phenology: early

Weather conditions:

Spring was a little earlier with snow cover lost between the 8-15 June, and river ice breaking up between 9-12 June. Summer was hot and dry - favourable conditions for blood-sucking insects, Simulidae were especially numerous.

Season temperature: warm
Season humidity: dry
Date of 50% snow-cover:
Date of ice-break on rivers:
Date of final loss of snow:

BIOTIC CONDITIONS

Rodents abundance evaluation:

low

Breeding conditions:

Rough-legged Buzzard, Snowy Owl and skuas (three species) did not breed. Only a few pairs of Glaucous Gull attempted breeding. Arctic Foxes did not reproduce; they were completely absent from inland areas of the Peninsula, with only solitary individuals encountered near the coast. As a result of the favourable weather and low predation, breeding success of waders and ducks was high.

Rodent dynamics:

Lemming abundance was low.

Rodent species recorded:
